About the Lecture

Yann LeCun is the executive chairman of AMI Labs and Jacob T. Schwartz Professor of Computer Science at New York University, affiliated with the Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing and Data Science. LeCun was the Chief AI Scientist at Meta (2018–2025), the founding director of Meta-FAIR (2013–2017) and the founding director of the NYU Center for Data Science (2011–2014). He is the recipient of the 2018 ACM Turing Award (with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio) for “conceptual and engineering breakthroughs that have made deep neural networks a critical component of computing.” He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the French Académie des Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from Sorbonne Université.
Welcome remarks were delivered by Michael Littman, Associate Provost for AI and University Professor of Computer Science. The talk was followed by a fireside chat and moderated Q&A led by Provost Francis J. Doyle III.
